Cleansing tips for wooden utensils:
DON'T:
- Put wood utensils or cutting boards into the dishwasher as the intense steam and prolonged exposure to hot water can cause cracking.
- Let the utensils sit in water to soak for extended periods of time.
DO:
- Wash the utensils in hot soapy water fairly quickly after use.
- Pat the utensils dry with a cloth and allow them to air dry.
- Rub the wood with a slice of lemon and allow it to air dry if any strong flavors have seeped into it.
- Apply mineral oil to the wood occasionally to prevent drying out and cracking.
